Frequently asked questions

  • What are the main differences between the North XL RC and the standard North XL?
The North XL RC underwent a few major changes in the internal case body from the North XL. The motherboard plate have been offset from the right side panel, creating a larger space for connectors and cable routing on the backside of the motherboard, giving you the option to keep most of your PC-cables out of sight. As these connectors take up the space where the standard North XL has an SSD-bracket, we added a slot on the front part of the motherboard plate rear side to give space for two 2.5" drives. The I/O-panel cables for USB 3.0 and USB-C are also angled. Due to the moved motherboard tray, some specifications have changed compared to the standard North XL, such as maximum CPU cooler height, and maximum size for a rear radiator.

  • Can I fit a motherboard without reverse connectors inside of this case?
A motherboard without reverse connectors would technically fit inside of the case, but due to the angled connectors from the front I/O-panel for USB 3.0 and USB-C, these could interfere with the RAM depending on your motherboard model. If you plan on utilizing a non-reversed connector motherboard, we recommend the standard North XL instead.

  • What is the pin layout on the combined F_PANEL connector?
If keeping the connector with the F_PANEL and small arrow up top:

The pin layout is as follows:

    Blocked connector / No pinPower GNDPower+Power LED-Power LED+
No pinNo pinNo pinNo pinNo pin

This connector follow the Intel F_PANEL standard, which has become the norm for motherboards. Refer to your motherboard manual to see where these connectors are located on the board on your specific model.
